Boldstone Sculpture designs, sculpts and manufactures wall sculptures and water features for gardens and interiors.

Artist and designer Sally Price was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in South Africa. After studying Anthropology and History of Art at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg she spent twelve years working first in the Windhoek Museum, Namibia, and subsequently in the South African Museum of Natural History and Anthropology in Cape Town, South Africa.

Growing up in the light and varied topography, flora and fauna of southern Africa, Sally developed a deep interest in natural form, colour and texture. In 1993 while based in Cape Town Sally started making wall sculptures expressing these ideas. In 1998 she formed Boldstone Sculpture in the UK and has since worked with landscape architects, architects, interior designers and garden designers as well as private clients and home owners throughout Britain and in many other countries.

Sally’s designs are inspired by pattern in nature whether that be the corrugations of sand ripples, the curves and spirals of waves and sea shells, or the shifting shadow shapes of the phases of the moon and the geometric and organic forms of plants, snow flakes, crystals and sea creatures. These have been interpreted into bold shapes and rhythms with a strong emphasis on texture, light and shadow.  The method she uses is to cast carved shapes into wall panels contrasting the hard edge of the carved block with the organic shape held within.  This method and approach to design has become the hallmark of Boldstone’s style and signature. The pieces are placed on walls in private and corporate gardens and interiors or transformed into water features and paving stones.
